Split utility bills with tenants by their meter readings

To split utility bills with tenants fairly, bill each unit from its own meter: the tenant submits the reading, and the amount is consumption multiplied by your tariff. FinMan does this automatically — the tenant photographs the meter in Telegram or WhatsApp, and the owner sees the reading and the calculated amount per address.

If a rental unit has its own electricity, water or gas meter, the fair way to split the bill is simple: the tenant pays for the consumption their meter shows, at the provider's tariff. The hard part is collecting readings every month and doing the math. FinMan removes both steps.

How it works

  1. Owner generates an invite link for the address directly from the app
  2. Tenant follows the link, registers (or logs in), and gets instant access
  3. Tenant enters meter readings via app, Telegram or WhatsApp bot — owner sees them in real time
✅ No more WhatsApp photos of meters. Clear records for both parties.

The tenant sends a photo, you get the amount

You invite the tenant with a link for their address. From then on they send a meter photo to the Telegram or WhatsApp bot or enter the reading in the app. FinMan stores the reading, calculates consumption against the previous one and multiplies it by the tariff you set for that service — day and night rates on one meter are supported. You see the reading, the consumption and the amount for every address.

Where this works — and where it does not

It works for every unit with its own meter — a sub-meter counts. If several tenants share one meter without sub-meters, FinMan records the total reading and amount, but dividing it between people, by headcount or by area, remains your decision: the app does not split one meter between several tenants.

Frequently asked questions

How is the tenant's amount calculated?
Consumption (current reading minus previous) multiplied by the tariff rate you entered for that service. A fixed monthly fee can be added as a separate subscription tariff.
Can the tenant change the tariff?
No. A tenant can submit readings and edit only their own entries; services and tariffs are read-only for them — only the owner changes rates.
What happens to the history when a tenant moves out?
You revoke the tenant's access to the address at any time; the full reading history stays with the address for your records and for the next tenant's starting point.
Does the tenant have to use the bot?
No. Readings can be entered in the web app or the Android app as well; the bot is simply the fastest way for a tenant who only needs to send a photo.
