Not every bill has a meter
Electricity and water get all the attention, but a lot of your monthly utility spend is flat: garbage collection, building maintenance, a fixed internet line, a heating standing charge. There is nothing to read and no difference to compute — just the same amount every month.
Forcing these into a meter-based flow is where people go wrong. They invent readings, or skip the charge entirely and wonder why their totals never match the real bill.
Use a subscription tariff
In FinMan, every service can carry a tariff, and a tariff has a type: metered, subscription, or manual. Pick the right one:
- Subscription — a fixed price charged each period. No reading needed; FinMan just applies the amount.
- Metered — you enter readings and FinMan computes the difference and cost.
- Manual — you type the final amount yourself when it varies unpredictably.
For garbage, building fees, or a flat line rental, choose subscription and set the price. When you run the monthly bill, that charge is included automatically.
Set it up from the bot
You do not need the web app. Open the Utilities menu in the Telegram or WhatsApp bot:
- Add or select your address.
- Add the service (e.g. "Garbage").
- Add a tariff, set its type to subscription, and enter the monthly price.
From then on, running /utilities rolls the fixed charge into your monthly total next to your metered electricity and water.
When a flat charge changes — say your building fee goes up — edit the tariff price. FinMan applies tariff changes over time, so past months keep the old amount and future bills use the new one.
